Review: Happily Stuck with My Curvy Wife
Synopsis
I’m stuck in a fake marriage with my sister’s best friend.
She’s curvy, loud, and allergic to rules.
I’m the reformed bad boy trying to fix a scandal before it ends my hockey career.
We used to hate each other.
Now she’s my fake wife.
Bridget Harrington was supposed to save my image.
One year. No feelings. No strings.
But she moves in and tears down every wall I built.
Steals my hoodies. Dominates my kitchen. Challenges my rules.
I see her fight back against cruel gossip.
I feel her soften when no one’s looking.
And somehow, I fall for her.
Then she shows up to the gala transformed—stunning, poised, untouchable.
And I know I’m in trouble.
If my sister ever finds out I’m falling for her best friend,
everything could blow up.
The team. My career. My family.
But if I lose her…
What’s left to fight for?
Review
Spoiler Alert: There might be some spoilers for the tv show Bones later on in this review. It ended in 2017. If you haven’t watched it by now, you probably won’t. Sorry.
I’m going to be honest with you, dear reader. I am not sure what I just read. It was truly a unique experience for me because I actually really liked Happily Stuck with My Curvy Wife by Natalia Quinn. I found that it was a very sweet story with two lead characters that I very much enjoyed. I liked Bridget’s determination and level-head as well as her softness and flaws. I also enjoyed Wes’ acceptance of his past bad boy ways and his willingness to open up to Bridget.
So, where is my hesitation coming from? I think it stems from the mere fact that this book could have done with some [more] editing. There were instances where the POV was switched (e.g. the character’s POV wasn’t matching how they were talking about the other characters) and some sentences seem to be repeated that I think should have been deleted during editing and were overlooked.
I wish we could have seen more of the couple falling in love. It was like, I believed they were in love, but I didn’t get to see much of how they got there. Are there any Bones fans out there? Anyone remember how we didn’t really get to see a courtship between Booth and Bones and then we’re supposed to believe that they just were…together and she was all of a sudden pregnant? Yeah, it was kinda like that, but without the pregnancy.
So, with all that said - I hesitate in saying whether or not you should check out this story. I enjoyed enough to give it 3 stars because I loved the vibe between our hero and heroine and genuinely think that with more editing, this book could be even more beautiful. Take that as you will!
And if you’re wondering - this is a closed door romance. No spice here, folks.
