I can truly say that I have never read a book like Barbara Radnofsky and Ed Supkis's The Barber, the Astronaut, and the Golf Ball. I don't usually read non fiction, and when I do read it, it's definitely not about NASA. However, perhaps needless to say, I very much enjoyed this read! It was a great mix of peoples' accounts and the life (and lives) that surround people who are involved in the space program. Most specifically, this book deals with the story behind a friendship that blossomed between an astronaut and his barber.
I took much delight in the detailed accounts and anecdotes that Radnofsky and Supkis included in their research. I am a sucker for details (fiction, nonfiction - it does not matter). From people's stories to research regarding items that are a part of NASA history - it truly gave me so much information that I never would have learned otherwise. This book was truly a product of the love these two authors have for its subject matter. You can feel it in each page. I believe a book like this is ideal for anyone who is (1) interested in space stories or (2) has never thought about space in an indepth sense, but has an affinity for detailed non fiction accounts. This work has a lot of heart and detail in it and is definitely worth a look!
