Synopsis
Ellie came to me with a bargain. Her life for her father's, but I didn't build my empire by letting debts go unpaid. You owe me, you pay. End of story.
But this girl didn't just walk in shaking and begging for mercy- no, Ellie charged in demanding her father's freedom.
I take her deal, adding my own conditions, of course. I'm not a good man. I'm a beast.
But there's more at play here than just the love of a daughter, the possession of a beauty. Secrets won't stay buried.
Outside forces want in, want to take what's mine. And when Ellie finds out the secrets of her own past, she'll need to decide. What exactly is she willing to risk for love.
I have a thing for fairy tale retelling - and that thing is exponentially more pronounced when he retelling is a Beauty and the Beast one! I have loved the story (however problematic it might be, sadly) since I was a kid. All I saw was a sweet and smart girl fall in love with someone who thought they shouldn’t be loved.
So, when the opportunity came along to listen to this audiobook, well, I couldn’t help but take advantage! It was a great story mingling the tale of my childhood with the grittiness of being an adult. It takes the story we know well and gives it more twists and turns and, of course, more heat. Anyone who interested in retelling s and grittier adult romances will definitely enjoy this book in any form it is presented.
